Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. PGSC Poster Competition winners receive $1500 Scholarships

The posters winners are pictued with Shirley Li on the left, Patrick Poole in the middle, and Kyle Kafka on the right. 

Three $1500 scholarships will be awarded to three deserving graduate students.  Pictured are the winners, Shirley Li, Patrick Poole and Kyle Kafka.  The poster session, sponsored by the Physics Graduate Student Council, was adjudicated by Physics faculty over a period of two day in late August.

The Dr. David C. DeMartini Endowed Fund in Physics was established May 30, 2003, with gifts from Dr. David DeMartini (Ph.D., 1969) of Houston, Texas for the purposes of recognizing scholarship in the field of Physics. 

The Dr. Clifford Heer Graduate Student Scholarship Award Fund in the Department of Physics was established September 21, 2007 with gifts in memory of Professor Emeritus Clifford Heer (B.S. Phys., 1942, Ph.D., 1949) from his wife Esther Heer (B.S., 1949) and other family members and friends for the purposes of recognizing scholarship in the field of Physics.

The David DeMartini Scholarship was awarded to:  Shirley Li (advisor: John Beacom)  “Muon-induced spallation backgrounds for MeV astrophysical neutrino signals in Super-Kamiokande”

Clifford Heer Graduate Student Scholarships were awarded to:  Patrick Poole (advisor: Richard Freeman) "Design of a liquid membrane target for high repetition rate neutron generation" and Kyle Kafka (advisor: Enam Chowdhury) “Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures from Single Femtosecond Pulses"

Congratulations to the three winners and thanks to the faculty for adjudicating the event.
