Lou DiMauro awarded University Distinguished Scholar Award at Surprise visit by President Gee

The Physics Department Faculty Meeting on Thursday January 26, 2012 was interrupted by a surprise visit from President E. Gordon Gee and other university administrators. The purpose of the visit was to announce that Prof. Lou DiMauro has been selected as one of the six (6) awardees of the university's Distinguished Scholar Award. Among those accompaying President Gee were Lou's wife, Barbara, his daughter, Kimberly, Dean Peter March of Natural and Mathematical Sciences and Associate Vice President for Research, Jan Weisenberger.
The Distinguished Scholar Award is presented annually. It recognizes and honors six faculty members who demonstrate scholarly activity, research, or other creative works which represent exceptional achievements in their fields. Recipients of the award receive a $20,000 research grant and a $3,000 honorarium to pursue their scholarly activity. An awards ceremony recognizing all of the receipients of the faculty awards will occur Spring quarter.
