Transfer Credit / Credit by Examination

Physics Transfer Credit

If you have received special, technical, or general transfer credit for a physics course that has been transferred to OSU, please contact Dr. Mike Ziegler, Physics Transfer Credit Evaluator, in order to get your transfer credit evaluated.  Dr. Ziegler is located in room 1036 Smith Labs and can be contacted via email at ziegler.2@osu.edu or by phone at 614-292-2067.

In order to have your physics transfer credit evaluated, copies of the following items must be submitted:

  • Syllabus or assignment sheet (with a detailed list of topics covered)
  • Author and name of textbook
  • Transfer credit report

 

Credit by Examination

For Physics 1200, 1201, 1250, or 1251 credit by examination, contact the Testing Center at the Registrar's Office. A copy of the equation sheet can be provided by the testing office in advance of taking the test, but it is not allowed to be brought back into the testing room on test day. If a student is already enrolled in the course, the cutoff date for taking the credit by examination test is the first Friday of the term.

There are three AP Physics tests.  The credit a students will receive based on the score of each test is shown below.

Physics 1

Physics 1200 (5 credits) with a score of a 3, 4, or 5

Physics 2

Physics 1201 (5 credits) with a score of a 3, 4, or 5

Physics C: Mechanics

Physics 1250 (5 credits) with a score of a 3, 4, or 5

Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism

Physics 1251 (5 credits) with a score of a 3, 4 or 5
