"Song of the Stars" Premiere at Capital Theatre - 7:30 pm

Song of the Stars Poster

"An astrophysicist, a dancer, and a filmmaker walk into a bar..."

It sounds like a setup for a joke, doesn't it? But our unlikely collaboration is one of the most beautiful parts of the Song of the Stars project. We're taking people from incredibly different disciplines and creating something truly unique: a blend of science and art to bring astronomy to new audiences

And what a team we've put together! Here's who they are and what we've accomplished so far:

  • Cassia Cramer: The Artistic Director of Seven Dance Company who has led the choreography and is currently guiding the dancers to polish the routines.
  • Kai Staats: A professional filmmaker (if you paid attention to the gravitational wave announcement the other week, you saw his handiwork in action) who has designed our marketing documents and will lead the filming via his company, Over the Sun Productions.
  • Leo Buono: A 30-year veteran of documentary film who will be the Director of Photography at the premiere.
  • Leonardo Carrizo: Our professional photographer who captured stunning images and tons of behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Mary Tarantino and Andy Baker: Perhaps the best lighting design team in the country, they will make the stage come alive at the premiere.
  • Barb Thompson: Our full-time sponsorship manager and marketing director, she's pulled the businesses of our community together to support the live performance. She's also leading a team of marketing students from Ohio University.
  • Mike Cairns: A virtual reality guru, his company, Infinite Impact, will film the dances in 360 degrees.
  • Ty Owen: COSI's theater manager, he'll be using his skills to develop the planetarium version of the film.
  • John Beacom: The Director of OSU's CCAPP, after the premiere he will be assisting in developing the educational supplements and teacher guides.

The Premiere performace will be Thursday April 21 at the Capital Theatre - 7:30 pm
