Abstract: "Nuclear reactions in stellar environments occur at energies of a few keV, which is unachievable in laboratory experiments. Therefore, theoretical models are required to extrapolate the measured data down to relevant astrophysical energies. Halo EFT provides a systematic framework to describe low-energy dynamics as a truncated expansion. We use halo EFT to model the low-energy scattering of 3He+4He and 7Be+p, two reactions that are important for the solar pp-II and pp-III chains. While cross section predictions are useful, it is just as useful to quantify the uncertainty in these predictions. We employ Bayesian methods to simultaneously quantify the uncertainty in both the halo EFT parameters, and the halo EFT truncation error. In this talk, I will present previous results on 3He+4He scattering, and the on-going work on 7Be+p scattering."
