High Energy Physics seminar - Paul Oehlmann (Virginia Tech) "The Past, Present and Future of F-theory Model Building"
Within the last 22 years, F-theory grew into a mature field flexible enough to understand the vastest set of string vacua using powerful techniques of algebraic geometry. Therefore F-theory is also of great interest for phenomenological applications whose sophistication grew together with the F-theory toolkit. This presentation is intended to review this development from first local model building attempts, to today's global ones and their construction for non-experts.
