Unfortunately, mortality from heart disease is on the rise as the population is rapidly aging and becoming obese. There is great need to attain novel therapeutic treatments for these cohorts. I will discuss recent studies in which we discovered two novel pathways that are key regulators of cardiac function, including cardioprotective effects in senescent or obese mice.
