Professor Alexandra Landsman Named Optica Fellow
The Department of Physics is proud to announce that Professor Alexandra Landsman has been elected a 2027 Fellow of Optica, one of the highest honors bestowed by the international society dedicated to advancing optics and photonics.
Founded in 1916, Optica recognizes members who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and service in the advancement of optics and photonics. Fellow status is highly selective, with Fellows comprising no more than ten percent of the society's total membership.
Professor Landsman was honored "for seminal theoretical contributions to strong-field ionization, tunneling-time physics, and attosecond delays, bridging experiment and theory for atoms, molecules, and solids." Her research has helped deepen our understanding of fundamental quantum processes and has advanced connections between theoretical predictions and experimental observations in ultrafast science.
Professor Landsman is among the 116 members from 23 countries elected to Optica's 2027 Fellow Class. The recognition reflects her significant contributions to the field and her impact on the global optics and photonics community.
The Department of Physics congratulates Professor Landsman on this outstanding achievement and recognition of her pioneering research.
