Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Powerheart AED Device installed in the Physics Research Building

Clip art of yellow and blue AED with sky in the background

As you may have already noticed - an AED (Automated external defibrillator) has been installed outside of 1040 PRB.  The AED is a self-testing, battery-operated device.  After applying the AED's defibrillation pads to the patient's bare chest, the AED automatically analizes the patient's electrocardiogram (ECG) and advises the operator to press the button to deliver a shock if needed.  The AED guides the operator through the rescue using a combination of voice prompts, audible alerts, and visible indicators.

Thanks to the Physics Staff Advisory Committee for spearheading the effort to get this device purchased and installed and to the Chair for approving its purchase.
