NSBP 2026 Membership Showcase: Professor Geraldine Cochran
The Ohio State University Department of Physics congratulates Professor Geraldine L. Cochran on being recognized as this month's honoree in the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) Membership Showcase.
A Fellow of both the American Physical Society (APS) and the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), Professor Cochran is nationally recognized for her equity- and justice-centered approach to physics education research. Her work focuses on expanding opportunities in physics by addressing systemic barriers and creating more inclusive pathways for students from historically marginalized communities.
In addition to her research, Professor Cochran has provided impactful structural leadership within the physics community.
The Department of Physics celebrates this well-deserved recognition and thanks Professor Cochran for her continued contributions to physics education, research, and the broader scientific community.
