Graduate School 2023-24 Presidential Fellowship Competition

The Graduate School has announced this week the winners of the 2023-24 Graduate School Presidential Fellowship competition!

 

The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research or terminal degree project.

 

Physics students selected:

 

Po Wen Change; Advisor Prof. John Beacom, Astrophysics Theory;   Dissertation Title: “Advancing the frontier of supernova neutrino astronomy with machine learning”

 

Igor Lyalin; Advisor Prof. Roland Kawakam, Condensed Matter Experimental Physics; Dissertation Title: “Magneto-Optical Study of the Orbital Hall Effect”

 

Madhur Mehta; Advisor Prof. Samir Mathur, High Energy Physics Theory ; Dissertation Title: “Through the looking glass—Black holes in String Theory”
