Junior Physics major Emily Osborne is one of four Ohio State Students to receive a 2020 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the most prestigious national award for undergraduate researchers in science, math, and engineering. Goldwater Scholars receive an award to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500.  

Emily is joined by fellow juniors Daniel Lesman majoring in biomedical sciences, Eitan Rothberg majoring in computer and information science, and Sarthak Shah majoring in neuroscience.

Emily aims to earn a Ph.D. in biophysics to conduct research in active matter systems and teach at the university level. Emily's research is advised by Dr. Ratnasingham Sooryakumar and Dr. Christopher Pierce.
