High Energy Physics Seminar - Preema Pais (CERN) "Search for Displaced Decays to Hadronic Jets with the ATLAS Detector"
Many new physics models predict the existence of neutral, weakly interacting, long-lived particles that can decay within the detector volume. Such particles produce distinctive experimental signatures, but pose a challenge for triggering and reconstruction. In this talk, I will present results for a recent search for long-lived particles with the ATLAS detector, using techniques for reconstructing displaced decays to hadronic jets in the inner tracking detector and muon spectrometer.
