Colloquium - Marcos Sotomayor (The Ohio State University) - Molecular Mechanics of Hearing
Inner-ear sensory perception begins when “tip links”, fine protein filaments essential for hearing and balance, pull and open ion channels to elicit transduction currents. In this lecture I will show how we are using structural biology techniques and molecular dynamics simulations to study tip links and to provide a detailed view of the first molecular steps in inner-ear sensory transduction.
