Colloquium - Joan Herbers (The Ohio State University) The Status of Women in Physics
Women scientists face learning and work environments that differ in important ways from those men experience. In physics especially, women are under-represented among students and working professionals. In this talk I will present data on the current status of women in physics and explore some of the psycho-social factors that impede their full inclusion. Achieving gender equity will require everyone, men and women alike, to understand those factors and to undertake strategies to ameliorate their disproportionate effects on women.
