Professor Michael Poirier has recently been selected to serve as a member of the Molecular Genetics A Study Section, Center for Scientific Review of the National Institutes of Health for a term beginning July 2016 through June 2020. The letter from the Director of the Center for Scientific Review, Richard Nakamura, Ph.D. states "Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievemnt in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.  Service on a study section also requires mature judgment and objectivity as well as the ability to work effectively in a group, qualities we believe Dr. Poirier will bring to this important task".

This membership will represent a major commitment of time and energy and will be a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort, reviewing grant applications and making recommendations to the appropriate NIH national advisory council or board.

Congratulations Dr. Poirier!
