Physics Major Receives FLAS Fellowship

Ryo Shinohara

Ryo Shinohara, a senior majoring in both Physics and Japanese, was awarded a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year. The FLAS Fellowships are funded by the U.S. Department of Education and were awarded to 80 Ohio State students in 30 departments across campus this year. Recipients receive $10,000 for tuition and a $5,000 stipend that can be used to cover other educational and living expenses.

Ryo is currently doing research with Dr. K.K. Gan on the ATLAS experiment at CERN and plans to go to graduate school after he graduates from Ohio State.
