OSU Physics Postdoc Featured in Symmetry Article

Physics without Frontiers Group

OSU Physics post doctoral researcher, Dr. Suyog Shrestha, was recently featured in an article published by Symmetry, an online magazine about particle physics.

Dr. Shrestha is part of a group of CERN scientists who recognized a lack of educational and scientific resources in Nepal and decided to help change that by creating a "non-profit that raised money to renovate schools, establish libraries, and launch computer literacy campaigns". They later partnered with Nepal schools and Physics Without Frontiers to run physics lectures and workshops for teachers and students.

Their work has resulted in stronger connections between students and teachers in Nepal and the research being done at CERN. "They (Dr. Shrestha and colleagues) say they hope that by bringing more powerful tools and cutting-edge research to Nepal, they can help Nepal lay foundations for scientific and technological advancement. And then perhaps one day, students in Nepal can choose to study abroad because they want to—not because they have to."
