Klaus Honscheid, professor of Physics, and Paul Martini, professor of Astronomy, have received a $2.5M award from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to support operation of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). DESI is a major new cosmological survey that will measure over 35 million galaxies and quasars to probe the mystery of cosmic acceleration. This award will support scientists at Ohio State who will help conduct the survey and analyze the results. Honscheid and Martini are part of the Center for Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics (CCAPP). The DESI project is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
