Faculty are leaders and active participants in centers based in the Department, the Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP), and the center for the Exploration of Novel Complex Materials (ENCOMM) whose support led to an NSF MRSEC, the Center for Emergent Materials (CEM). Faculty work in state-of-the-art facilities in the Physics Research Building, at U.S. research centers, at international laboratories in Europe and Asia, at facilities in South America and in Antarctica. The scholarly activities of the faculty truly have a global reach, which has directly led to an increase in the strength and diversity of the graduate students.
