Open Faculty Positions

The Department of Physics in the College of Arts & Sciences at The Ohio State University is seeking candidates for two tenure track faculty appointments effective Fall Semester 2012. Highly qualified candidates in all areas of theoretical particle physics and experimental biophysics are invited to apply. In theoretical particle physics, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in physics beyond the standard model, and with a strong interest in interacting with experimentalists working at the Large Hadron Collider and in astrophysical contexts. In experimental biophysics, we are most interested in candidates skilled at using in vivo techniques to complement our existing in vitro and in silico efforts. While we are primarily searching for tenure track Assistant Professor candidates, we may consider exceptionally well-qualified applicants for tenured appointments. Applicants should have a PhD and an outstanding research record. A commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is essential.

The Department currently has 54 faculty and approximately 60 postdoctoral researchers and research scientists, 190 graduate students, and 320 undergraduate majors. Our research operation is located in the new Physics Research Building, which contains state-of-the-art office, meeting, and laboratory space. Additional information about the department may be found at http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu.

All applications should be submitted electronically at http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/jobs/facultyapp/

Candidates should submit a letter of application, a complete curriculum vitae including a list of publications, a brief description of research plans, and a teaching statement. Applicants should arrange for at least four letters of reference to be sent to faculty_searches@physics.osu.edu or to:
