The 2018 IEEE International Conference on Microwave Magnetics conferred an honorary award on Emeritus Prof. Philip Wigen at their recent meeting.  He was recognized for his contributions to the field of high-frequency and microwave magnetics.  Phil was unable to attend the conference due to his grandson's wedding, but the award was accepted on his behalf by former student Bob McMichael and presented to Phil when the two met this summer at Pend Orielle Lake.  Phil was pleased and surprised by this honor which is most definitely deserved.

Professor Wigen was on the faculty at Ohio State from 1965 to 2000 during which time he advised 35 students to the completion of their PhD.  Even after his retirement he continued to work in his lab for several years.  He and his wife Bonnie (deceased Feb 2018) moved to the west coast where they lived in Santa Rosa.  Phil continues to follow the happenings in the department.  If you have a chance, please send Phil your congratulations at wigen.1.

Congratulations Phil!
