An Interview with OSU Grad about Phosphine on Venus

Rimmer P

Earlier this fall a study detected the chemical phosphine in the clouds of Venus. This was unexpected and could be a sign of life.  Dr. Paul Rimmer, a graduate of the department and now at Cambridge co-authored the discovery. Prof. Christopher Orban was in grad school with Paul, and recently with the help of two undergrad students he recorded a zoom interview with him. Undergrads Manali Nayak and Alex Giovannone from OSU physics edited it and added graphics. Paul stressed the importance of computer science in this research, encouraging aspiring high school students to develop their computer science skills in addition to their math and science skills.
