The 9th annual GRASP summer camp took place June 6-10, 2016.  Pictured here are the campers and the many volunteers that helped make this week a success.

GRASP(Girls Reaching to Achieve in Sports & Physics) was created in 2008 and is designed to teach middle school girls the physics of various sports and to encourage them to consider a career in STEM.  The camp is designed and led each year by co-directors, Lindsey Thaler and Robin Patterson, along with support from the Department of Physics.  A huge thank-you to the following:

·        Dr. Nancy Santagata, Tori Boggs, OSU Jump Rope Club, and Jump Company USA for helping the campers learn about the physics of jumping rope

·        Dr. Annika Peter for discussing the physics of badminton

·        SWiP members Kaeli Hughes, Khalida Hendricks, Hanna Lafranconi, and Oindree Banerjee for teaching the girls about the physics of ice skating

·        Dr. Mike Lisa for showing the campers lots of fun demos and discussing the physics of swimming

·        Dr. Richard Hughes for teaching the campers how to build and program Arduino robots

·        Grace Calhoun for running a fun and informative planetarium show

·        Katie Ferrell and Allie Woodford for hosting an exciting physics demo show

·        Terry Bradley for helping with hardware and IT needs

·        Harold Whitt, Chris Healy, Katie Ferrell, Allie Woodford, and Mitchell Grose for helping set up demonstrations throughout the week

·        All of our student volunteers
