Special Seminar - Sean Flowers (OSU recent graduate) " Bridging the Gap: A Guide to Transitioning from Academia to Data Science"
Abstract:In August 2017, I graduated with my PhD from OSU in High Energy Physics. I joined Insight Data Science (an intensive 7-week post-doctoral training fellowship bridging the gap between academia and data science) and now work as a Data Scientist for a consulting firm in New York City . In this talk I will share all of the essential things I believe you need to know to land a great job in Data Science. I will explain the entire process from submitting your resume to salary negotiations and everything in between. Including: important technical skills, resume tips, how to ace behavioral interview questions, and why lying is bad.
