The Annual Department Picnic was the scene of lots of good food, good conversation and good fun.  The giant Jenga was a hit with staff and students.  City Barbeque provided the food and servers.  Awards for Distinguished Staff and Distinguished Teaching by both faculty and TAs and graduate student awards were presented.

Pictured above are the winners of the Distinguished Physics Staff Award, from left to right: Rachel Page, Jenny Finnell, Shelley Palmer, and Katie Ferrell.  Honorable Mention awards were given to Tom Barrett, Andrew Canale, Jillian Fair, Ruth Leonard, Raju Nandyala, Rachel Schrock, and Camelia Selcu. 

Hazel Brown Teaching Awards were given to: Aidan Lee, Preston Pozderac, Seth Shields, Michael Newburger, Micah Haseman, Robert Walko, Nicholas Czapla, Zachary Pollock, Dan Tuthill and Mike Lopez.  The William R. Riley Excellence in Teaching Physics Award Winner is Keith McBride

The Bunny and Thomas Clark Scholarships for Graduate Students were awarded this year to:
Shaun Hampton, advised by Samir Mathur and Shirley Li, advised by John Beacom.

We also announced that Dr. Jayaprakash won the Undergraduate Teaching Award, an award voted on by undergraduate students.  He was surprised by a group of students several days before the picnic.
