Recent years have seen fast development and applications of the large momentum effective theory (LaMET), which enables an extraction of parton distributions of different spin and transverse structures from the lattice. In this talk, I will describe the formalism of LaMET, and explain how we can perform a systematic calculation of the parton distributions with controllable precision. I will also discuss the recent lattice results that show remarkable agreements with up-to-date global analyses.
