University and Department offices wil be closed on Tuesday November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.  The Traditional "Rock Ceremony" which traces it roots to November 11, 1919 took place on November 6 at 10:30 a.m. recognizing all Ohio State alumni who died in service to the country as members of the armed forces.  A 21-gun salute and the laying of a wreath at the rock in front of Bricker Hall that was dedicated to Ohio State's WWI veterans is part of the ceremony.  If you heard gun fire on the Oval this morning - that was why.
